Collector/Agent on iPhone/iPad

Recommended Posts

Create an collector/agent that runs on iDevices. This agent would monitor iDevice metrics such as CPU, Mem, Storage, Cellular state, wifi state, battery state, signal strength, etc. The agent would report data back to Lomo so we can see our iDevices on our portal. Thanks.

This is interesting. I dont currently feel the need to monitor end-user devices like iPhones, iPads, etc., but the more data I have the better I can see problems and the more agile I can be.rnBut once you start talking about monitoring end-user devices the more the current price point doesnt work. I only have X number of servers, routers, etc. and LM does a great job monitoring them and giving me awesome metrics. I have 10X or 50X end-user devices so monitoring them all is not economical.rnThis may be a great opportunity for LM. An iDevice app in the iTunes store that costs something like $3.99 per device per month. Quantity discounts drive the price even lower. You know someone will not use the cheaper LM license on their server because its only available in the iTunes store. Now the customer feels confident to roll it out to 10,000 end-user devices (or whatever) because hes not going to get destroyed by a $19/month/device price tag. Maybe it supports a small sub-set of the full LM features. Thats fine; I dont need to see hard page faults per second in a graph for my iPhone.rn rn
