About Me

  1. Thanks all for attending our APAC Product Overview -Collectors, Resources/Groups, Dashboards on 11th May 2022 here is the video of this Webinar : Here is our feedback link :
  2. Thanks for attending our webinar today. Please give us feedback so we can improve our live trainings. Questions asked during this session: Front loading questions here.We have several sites with IT and OT hardware behind a VPN on a network that is not dependable. When the VPN goes down each device sends an individual alert. Is there anything we can do to limit the alerts coming in from a specific site? For instance We just had 244 alerts come in from a single site because the VPN went down momentarily. in the default alert table, I don't see the time series options and charts you had.. I only show "any time" settings only shows table settings I am admin, yes. Thank you Is this being recorded? so I can share it with the rest of my team. How much history is considered to calculate the norm? Using RBAC, can I configure a specific application team to configure their own alerts, but not overide rules that a monitoring team may be using? Can you walk us through customizing alert messages? When will the batch job fucntions/templates such as changing snmp community names, updating ACLs or others to all 200 devices be added to LM? Other monitoring tools have the batch jobs fucntions to execute command scripts to multiple devices for certain fucntions such as I mentioned earlier. We get alert calls based on our alert rules for "down" state and "all clear". Is there a way to receive the "down" calls and not the "all clear" calls? can you elaborate a little on custom dashboards? for instance we monitor a lot of edge devices on the field, and would like to setup a dashboard that fetches for Ping loss percent, host status, and would like to customize the dashboard to display those alerts as well as MAC address associated with devices Can we set an alerting threshold for an individual device to only alert x times per time period? How to effectively protect customizations to the various sources - say datasource, when you update the datasource.

  12. Thanks for attending! Please fill out our survey to help us continue to show the value of programs like this. Following is a transcript of the questions asked during this webinar: Q: [19:48] Is there a way to manually do an snmp walk to a device? Thx Q: [25:42] How to get OID from a device to monitor? Q: [30:43] Can I have the recording of this webinar? I am not able to pay attention on this day monthly. A: Q: What was that link to all the recorded sessions of this? A: Q: [34:25] How to make configsource (ssh_exec_standard) to stop generating config versions under configuration instance from common configsources -> standard configs (ssh exec) in a resource.. It thinks there is a configuration change in a network device when the device's config itself is not changing at all, thus it generates a new config version - collector version is 30.001 from your cisco example there are multiple versions.. my example is the same however the device's config is not changing at all Q: [35:50] How do you enable the config source for a device in your resources? Does it eat up extra licensing beyond the normal resource license? Q: [37:55] How to put one cluster of a vCenter into SDT? I'm guessing it depends on what Alerts are enabled, and also HOW the vCenter is being polled/monitored by LM Q: [39:17] my config check is configured as type: "config cannot be retrieved" Q: [40:39] Do I need to update my dashboard to a recent version to see the ConfigSource option? Q: [42:39] I have two things to share that were supprises [sic] to the engineer we were working with.
  13. Thanks to those that attended todays Webinar where we covered topics on Product Overview: Collectors, Resources and Dashboards (10th November 2021) Please consider filling out our feedback survey:
  14. Q: There are a lot of alerts configured out of the box. If my company doesn't care about them, is there a good way to turn down alerts to avoid excess noise in the platform? A: One best practice involves creating a dynamic group containing all devices. On that group level, you can tune thresholds globally. You will have to do it datapoint by datapoint. The Alert Frequency report will show you which datapoints will give you the most noise reduction. Ok - basically what i've been doing. Wasn't sure if there was a quicker/best practice way of doing this. Thanks!! Q: Will there ever be an all-in-one, single pane of glass, readout for setting up alert to alert chains to recipient groups? A: That’s a good question. Our product team needs to hear that feedback and your CSM is the best way to get it to them. I agree, we need a simpler way to show it. Q: Can we create a customer user to receive sms and calls as well as only see his environment upon logging in? A: Yes, you can create one or many user accounts to allow your customers to log into LM. The contact information you specify on that user account is what is used by Escalation Chains. You can also limit that user to only see a certain branch of the resource group tree. Excellent. Thank you! Q: Can we set alert dependency? A: Unfortunately, the Zoom cut off before we could get to this question, but it requires clarification. It's a deep topic depending on which way it goes.
  15. Thanks for those that attended todays Webinar . Please consider filling out our feedback survey:
  16. Thanks for attending! Please fill out our feedback survey here. Questions asked: Q: What is the difference between collect every ?? and Discovery Schedule?? Are these both polling? [Answered at 24:51] Q: What scripting languages can be used with LogicMonitor. I saw groovy but is there support for python and others? [Answered at 26:26] Q: Is there a way to just send data output from scripts in json or XML and feed it directly (obviously you need some way to tell LM how to decode it) [Answered at 29:12] Also asked through the chat (sorry I didn't see this during the webinar, I don't often get the messages in the chat until after the webinar is over): I am responsible for reporting on data gathered by the collectors. I am having trouble find the reports I need to create. When I go into Logs I do not see any data. Q: How does one export the threshold configuration for all devices? A: Through an Alerts Threshold Report. Q: How does one gather database uptime/availability per month? A: Through a Resource Metrics Trends Report. Requires that you be monitoring the uptime of the database. You can summarize the entire timeframe of the report by choosing the sum or average (depending on if you're measuring uptime in seconds or percent). Q: How does one gather worst performing queries/transactions in a database per month? A: This kind of data isn't well monitored by a poll/response type monitoring solution. Instead, you might consider our Application Performance Monitoring capability (reach out to your CSM for details) or possibly Push metrics. Q: How does one gather device uptime/availability per month? A: Through a Resource Metrics Trends Report. Requires that you be monitoring the uptime of the device. You can summarize the entire timeframe of the report by choosing the sum or average (depending on if you're measuring uptime in seconds or percent). Q: How does one gather average and spike for CPU and memory per month? A: Through a Resource Metrics Trends Report. Requires that you be monitoring the CPU/memory of the device. You can summarize the entire timeframe of the report by choosing the max and average CPU/memory utilization Q: Can some roles prevent one from gathering data/running reports? A: Yes, a user's Role must have the "Manage" capability on at least one group in order to create/modify reports in that group.

  21. Participant Survey: Webinar Q & A 0:30 Question: How do I handle Syslog and Traps in conjunction with Auto Balanced Collector Groups? A: We generally try to make it so that traps are unnecessary by polling for most of the data you'd need. If traps or syslog are necessary, it's likely that statically assigned collectors are necessary. It's possible if you're using LM Logs to capture these flows on dedicated collectors. 22:00 Question: Please demonstrate Safe LogicModule Merge in the exchange Answer: We showed a few things; note that the LM exchange is about to be changed 32:15 Question: Is it possible to add scripted text to a dashboard Answer: There are several potential ways to make dashboard text dynamic. Text widgets are actually in HTML and can be worked with programmatically. It's also possible to use the HTML widgets to embed content from other web services. 39:30 Question: How do I write efficient groovy scripts for data collection? Answer: We give a quick rundown of some good coding practices, including using BatchScript for collection.
  22. Sorry folks, I inadvertently paused the recording at the start of the webinar and it remained paused for the entirety of today's webinar. We don't have a recording of today's session. You can access a few of the past sessions (which cover the same content) here, here, and here. There was a question about time based escalation chains. The official documentation for this feature is here. Look for "Create time-based chain". I mentioned a community developed solution. That can be found here. There was also discussion about our YouTube channel. That channel is here.
