About Me

  1. It would be nice if we had a way to invoke a speedtest and record the data pulled down. This could easily be done using a powershell script and a datasource but I'm still fairly new to logicmonitor so creating a data source isn't really something I'm good or comfortable with.
  2. In some cases, it is important to be able to alter the speed of an interface (speed up or down or both) to accurately reflect the connected device speed (which itself may be opaque, like a cable modem that runs at 20/1 on a gigabit port). I asked this a while back from TS and was told "just change the interface", but when I explained how this is not always feasible (e.g., Cisco ASA), they recommended I open a feature request. So, here it is -- I would like to be able to set speed up and speed down on an interface, overriding what comes back from ifSpeed. If I can do this another way (via cloned DS) ,that could work, but I would like to make this as simple as possible since it comes up quite a lot for Internet-edge equipment. Thanks, Mark
  3. We are a global company with resources in Minnesota, New Jersey, Australia, Ukraine, and India all using the Logic Monitor tool set. It would be incredibly useful to be able to set the timezone at a user level instead of only at the company level.
  4. We do monthly maintence for our clients on the last Sunday of every month. It would great if we could set a scheduled SDT for the last Sunday of every month, rather than specific dates.
  5. It would be handy to have a way to monitor Reservation expirations on AWS Resources. Then we could receive an alert when they are expiring.
  6. I really like OpsNotes, however i cannot use them... We have groups for each one of our customers, so a server failure OpsNote on 'customer x' would have no relation to anything in the 'customer y' group. It would be great to choose which groups OpsNotes apply to, otherwise we just end up with clutter that has no relation what so ever to that customer. Also it's confusing, someone might mistake 'customer x' OpsNotes for 'customer y' OpsNotes.
  7. As a vertical market provider, we have a need to monitor an application that is json-based. Logicmonitor can load the raw html itself, and gather latency times and the http status codes, but there's no way to monitor expected text that's a result of the JSON calls. Since it's part of the data stream, it makes sense that LogicMonitor could read read a json call just like anything else, and parse the data stream.
  8. Hi, It would be great if you could add a 'ping' option like the 'monitor UNC path'. Occasionally we have equipment attached to servers etc that we have no control over or no access to (such as a phone system or a NAS). Would be great to be able to monitor these from hosts with a simple ping.
  9. Some other monitoring tools provide SSL certificate monitoring to alert for expiring certs. Really wish LogicMonitor had this. +1 if I could use a collector to monitor for private SSL certs that aren't accessible publicly (like for RDS and the like).
  10. We had a DHCP pool that was nearing capacity and noticed that LM didn't alarm? Please can we request some DHCP pool monitoring capabilities for Windows Server?
  11. Currently the graph options for Widget includes three was to "Limit Results". The are "Top 10", Aggregate, All. There are times when I want to display the "Bottom 10". For example the lowest 10 CPU devices, or the 10 least available devices, etc. It would be GREAT to have a Bottom 10" option in the Limit Results parameter. Thanks.
  12. We used to have ability to poll a lot longer than the current times. Please bring back polling intervals of 6 hours 12 hours 1 day.
  13. Originally from ticket #10714. Merv It would be useful if netflow had a set of search criteria boxes to be added that may contain elements such as source or destination IP address or application/port number this can be used to query the database and retrieve all activities related to a specific host for a given period of time. An option to click on a chosen application or node to view all related conversation taking place for that particular host/application for a selected period of time. An option to explicitly set the line speed for a specific destination and to manipulate reports to view traffic utilisation percentages on that destination for a selected period of time. 14. Please add native support for discovery of ECS metrics by ClusterName AND ServiceName dimensions!
  15. Currently, a table must have static columns and rows defined before the widget will display data. It would be great to be able to dynamically build a table's rows based on * To expand on this, it would be great for the table to have the option to exclude instances with zero/no data from the list. For example, I would like a table that displays all MSMQ queue names and the number of messages in each queue - but not display anything if the current queue length = 0
  16. We use LM Cloud with multiple AWS accounts and dump the instances/devices into a common folder where no meaningful alert rule is applied. We use Dynamic Groups sort the discovered instances into appropriate buckets. Cloud Devices don't render a "Member of these Groups" section on their info tab, unlike Standard Devices. Having this would help my team understand why any particular alert rule is being triggered.
  17. I'd really appreciate it if the NTP datasource could be updated with better descriptions for datapoints. I'm trying to dissect it, but I don't really understand the raw output or how it's interpreted. Maybe I'm overthinking it.
  18. I think it would be useful to have a widget that was a simple red/green light. Maybe red/green/off. Maybe one big light or a grid of lights with description (to save space), or both! This would be great for Windows (or other) services on dashboards. Any metric that is represented by a graph that is either a 1 or a 0 is pretty boring to look at. A simple green light = 1, red light = 0, lights out = NULL would be aesthetically pleasing. I'm a SQL DBA and having this for my SQL services would be a great way to jump on and see if anything is not running that should be (even if I don't necessarily want to be alerted that it is not running). Thanks!
  19. According to your page, this is normal behavior but, as shown in the image attached, the default use of instance name can be quite a hindrance to usability of the legend. I tried to define the Legend entry but that value gets pushed off to the far left by the defaulting instance value - which in most cases is useless and in this case is just a duplicate of the datasource name.
  20. Looking for the ability to turn on or off Collector queueing of data points. Right now, an internet outage or LM update causes a loss of data metrics after 5 minutes. I would like to make the 5 minute number configurable by time or GB of data queue.
  21. Please make to that the Live Chat's pre-chat window automatically fills in the Name and email from the currently logged on user info. It's irritating to have to manually do this when the information is available to be auto populated.
  22. Within the interface there is a nice long view of VMs when you are looking at a vCenter system and are within the Virtual Machines datasource. I assume the data is gathered already but it would be awesome if there was a dynamic update for the VM to know what host it is on as part of the display of that datasource. Instead of: dns01.dufus.devdns02.dufus.devdns01.dufus.proddns02.dufus.prodHow about: (host01.cluster01.lcl) (host02.cluster01.lcl) (host01.cluster01.lcl) (host03.cluster01.lcl)This would make further diagnosis easier as you jump around from vCenter to a host. When clusters are 8-20 hosts in size it can take a while to figure out where that guest lives and this would shorten that time quite a bit.
  23. Hello, At the moment, when you view a graph and toggle different parts of the legend, on auto-refresh or date interval change, these selections aren't preserved. This is really annoying when you're trying to do some kind of investigation that lasts quite a long time. Is there a way of preserving which legends you've toggled between refreshes? Thanks.
  24. I would love to see the "ESX VM" datasource allow grouping its instances by the VDC/Resource Pool in which each VM is contained. Use case: Each VDC in our infrastructure may have different alerting rules. We have many VDCs and most of these VDCs are available directly to customers through vcloud director, allowing them to create their own VMs using names over which we have no control (so we can't use the automated name filters to group them). Customers may add a new VM at any time within their own VDC and they have the option to expand out at will without notifying us. Currently, grouping VMs by their VDC in LogicMonitor is a manual process which gets outdated everytime a new VM is created - which is at least daily. As a workaround, if the LogicMonitor APIs allowed a way to create instance groups and add instances to those groups, we could script this out and just add new VMs into the appropriate groups as the scripts detect that they have been added into the environment, however, it appears that this functionality doesn't exist in the API either.
  25. Make the Service navigation panel a treeview control, same as the Devices navigation panel.
